Present and Future

'Umanoove/Didy Veldman is Didy her own Company based in London. So far Umanoove/Didy Veldman has premiered two productions. Her latest work is called 'The Knot'. A full evening work with 7 dancers, supported by Arts Council of England, Linbury Trust, Studio Wayne McGregor through the FreeSpace Programme, Dance East, Beth Krasna, The Master Charitable Trust- Marina Kleinwort Trust and an anonymous donor. The premiere took place at Dance East in Ipswich on 9 Feb. '18. Followed by a a national and international tour with 15 performances. Birmingham Royal Ballet and Sadler's Wells have started a new incentive called 'Ballet Now'. I feel very fortunate to have been selected, together with Gabriel Prokofiev. We have created a new work for BRB called 'Sense of Time'. Please have a look at an excerpt.


Oper Leipzig has danced a full evening of my work on 30 June, 1 & 2 July, 21 Sept & 21 Nov. 2018. 

The work 'TooT' orginally created for Les Grands Ballets de Montreal and 'See Blue Through' originally created for Ballet Gulbenkian will both be performed. They will be performing See Blue Through as part of a triple bill on:

'The 3 Dancers' created for Rambert Dance Company was re-staged for Introdans, Holland. The premiere took place on 14 September 2018 followed by 33 performances through out The Netherlands.


Danish Dance Theatre performed 'Frame of View' in 2018, created originally for Cedarlake N-Y.




In November '15 I started my own research and development project, with funding from the Arts Council of England and tremendous support form Quercus Trust, DanceEast Choreographic Development Award, The Place, South East Dance, Siobhan Davies and Rambert Dance CompanyWorking together with composer Alexander Balanescu and 4 wonderful dancers. This was the start of my own Company Umanoove/Didy Veldman.

The Lithuanian National Ballet is still dancing my 'Carmen' which has been performed in 3 continents and was originally created for Northern Ballet Theatre under the Direction of Christopher Gable.


In between projects I teach, either contemporary classes or choreographic workshops for students of The Royal Ballet School, the London Contemporary Dance School, Rambert School and the Rambert Company. I've taught master classes at the Youth American Grand Prix in New York, Prix de Lausanne, Jacob's Pillow and summer schools in Australia and America.
